What is TE in HE?
TE in HE is an informal network of people who are interested in working with Nancy Kline’s Thinking Environment in the context of Higher Education in the UK. We are a mix of academics, professional service staff, and consultants and coaches.
Our principal activity is to meet online for an hour on Friday mornings, 9am-10am every six weeks or so. There is no expectation that anyone attend every, most, or even any meeting; but all are welcome. The meetings, of course, are run as Thinking Environments. Sometimes it is simply a chance to meet and think together about whatever each individual brings to the meeting; and sometimes we have a theme suggested by members to think about together.

Day of Practice and Discovery
In July 2026 we held our first TE in HE Day of Practice and Discovery at Durham University; at which a number of our members shared what they were doing and invited everyone to think together about what they were learning.
Some of the outputs from that are already posted on this site, and more will follow.
